Manchester United are offering Bayern Munich’s Toni Kroos £250,000 a week to move to Old Trafford according to The Mirror.
The 24-year-old, who currently earns a reported £90,000 a week in Germany, would have his wages trebled if he came to United and given how Kroos’ current unresolved contract situation at Bayern is based around wage parity with some of the club’s other players, it is an offer that would certainly entice him.
Many see United signing Kroos as implausible, improbable and near enough impossible. Bayern would indeed be foolish to let Kroos go but if they simply aren’t willing to meet his wage demands, he will have to find that elsewhere which is where United could come in.
Yesterday, Bayern hammered Hannover 4-0 yet Kroos had to settle for a place on the bench due to Pep Guardiola’s rotational policy, despite his world-class performance against Arsenal where he was deservedly named man of the match.
The best managers like Guardiola know how to keep a full squad of world-class players happy with their playing time but Kroos would have likely been frustrated at a place on the bench as his confidence would have been sky-high. At a time where speculation is rife about his future at the club, it only adds fuel to the fire.
As it stands, there has been no conclusion in regards to Kroos’ contract negotiations with Bayern and the longer they stall, the more chance United would have of swooping in and giving him what he wants. It is wishful thinking that Kroos will come to Old Trafford but we really need a player of his class to join the club this year.
