Manchester United have already contacted Barcelona over the availability of Alex Song according to Sport.es and have submitted an offer to the player.
The report states that Song’s agent Darren Dein has already held conversations with multiple clubs about the possibility of a deal and suggests that although Song may be happy in Barcelona, the goal is to let Song leave in the summer.
A move away in January was touted by Sport.es but Song wanted to remain at Barcelona until the end of the season to see if his first team involvement improved, but it hasn’t.
Song has been very out of favour at Barcelona this season and only four first team players have made fewer appearances than him.
He can’t get into Barcelona’s midfield right now and with Sergi Roberto coming through underneath him, Song’s potential playing time in the future will become lessened even more.
When Song was on song back in his Arsenal days, he was a pretty decent midfielder and given United’s current options, his presence would certainly improve the team but given our failure to sign Cesc Fabregas and Thiago Alcantara, we haven’t been very successful in negotiating with Barcelona.
Back in September, Sport.es linked Song with a move to United so he has been in the frame for a move to Old Trafford for the majority of the season and if reports are to be believed, David Moyes could be looking to bring the former Arsenal man to United this summer.
