Van Persie: Manchester United are lousy

by Sam Peoples

Robin van Persie has called Manchester United ‘lousy’ and labelled the disappointing campaign as a ‘tough season’, according to The Sun.

The 30-year-old commented on his frustration at United players being in certain positions he wanted to take up in the loss against Olympiacos but these comments from Van Persie are far more direct and destructive.

“We are lousy — in a lousy position in the league, out of the cups and this looks a difficult one also,” he reportedly said.

“We are very disappointed. It’s a tough season.”

Did Van Persie really say that? His comments about being frustrated were not said a bitter fashion to Dutch television yesterday, they were more of a passing comment but if he publicly labelled us lousy, at a time where beady eyes are burning into the back of the club’s head, then he has completely lost interest in United.

Are they genuine? Rob Beasley seems to be the only person who has run with the quotes. It would insinuate he either held an exclusive interview with the Dutchman or has been passed the quotes by somebody.

The fact that United are lousy right now isn’t the point. If one of David Moyes’ most important players has now stoked the fire instead of helping him with comments like this, then his chances of controlling a dressing room are nigh on impossible.
