William Carvalho remains focused on helping Sporting Lisbon’s title push this season but has admitted he could move to Manchester United in the summer.
The 21-year-old put in another impressive performance in Sporting’s 2-1 victory over Braga yesterday and is a midfielder who United have scouted on more than 12 occasions this season.
After years of under investment in midfield, United are going to have to spend big this summer and the prospect of moving to United is clearly something that interests Carvalho.
“It’s nice being praised and to know there are some big clubs interested in me,” he said.
When questioned about his future, he added: “It could be Manchester United or Real Madrid. It’s just nice to have a great European club after me, but at the moment I’m just totally focused on Sporting and doing my best until the end of the season.
“At the end of the campaign, we will see what happens.”
This may be Carvalho’s breakthrough campaign with Sporting but he is already considered one of the brightest midfield prospects in European football and is expected to have a big impact for Portugal at the World Cup.
It’s great for United that Carvalho is interested in a potential move as it puts us in a strong position to negotiate but if Moyes wants to get Carvalho for the best possible price, signing him before the World Cup begins would be a wise idea as player prices inflate after the competition.
