Moyes visited Germany to watch quartet as Kroos and Draxler interest increases

Manchester United were not in action this weekend and David Moyes took it as an opportunity to do some more scouting in Germany, according to various reports from the German and British press.

Moyes watched Freiburg’s Matthias Ginter in action on Friday weekend according to the Daily Mail and was at the Allianz Arena on Saturday night with particular interest in Bayern Munich’s Toni Kroos and Schalke duo Benedikt Howedes and Julian Draxler.

It is the second time this season that Moyes has watched Kroos in action as he met up with his agent Sascha Rees at the end of January and Kroos put in yet another commanding midfield display for Bayern Munich to further underline his credentials as one of Europe’s most accomplished midfielders.

Ginter is a 20-year-old centre-back and he has just been called up to the senior German side ahead of their friendly against Chile this week (click here to read a profile on Ginter from the Manchester Evening News).

Moyes was also keeping an eye on Schalke duo Howedes and Draxler according to reports. On the night, Howedes and Schalke could do nothing to stop a rampant Bayern Munich from scoring five goals while Draxler struggled to break down the German champions.

Both players have been at Schalke for their whole careers but Draxler in particular looks like he is set to move on amid heavy interest from Arsenal. It is the first time that Howedes has been linked with a move to United while Draxler, one of Europe’s most coveted young talents, has been linked with most major clubs ahead of an impending summer exit.

So far this season, Moyes has taken in various scouting trips in Germany, Italy, France and Spain and ahead of the summer transfer window, he is certainly readying himself for what could an explosion of movement at Old Trafford.
