Robin van Persie is a doubt for Holland’s international friendly against France today after missing training due to illness.
Holland’s coach Louis van Gaal confirmed that Van Persie stayed at the hotel yesterday and did not take part in training.
“The doctor has assured me that the problems with the sick players do not affect each other. One has problems with his stomach and the other does not,” Van Gaal told AD.nl.
Van Persie was in line to start against France but Van Gaal is not too disheartened by his absence as it doesn’t change his plans for the World Cup.
He added: “But I know what I am doing with them and now I can test other players. Van Persie and Robben play anyway at the World Cup. ”
Van Persie’s illness makes him a doubt for Manchester United’s trip to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday but it could give others an opportunity.
Danny Welbeck may return to the starting line-up and it could be an opportunity for Moyes to play Shinji Kagawa behind Wayne Rooney which would give United a really exciting front four that could potentially create goalscoring chances for fun.
