There have been some interesting developments in the future of Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos in the past week.
David Moyes watched Kroos in action last weekend and earlier this week, the 24-year-old said he was happy to delay a new contract with Bayern Munich until after the World Cup so that he could concentrate on the tournament.
As well as that, Bayern Munich reportedly opened discussions with Borussia Dortmund over the availability of Ilkay Gundogan which placed further doubt over the future of Kroos and now, it has emerged that another midfielder will be on his way to the Allianz Arena.
Frankfurt’s Sebastian Rode will join in a four year contract which means that Bayern’s midfield will boast the likes of Thiago, Javi Martinez, Schweinsteiger, Kroos, Gotze, Lahm and Rode – that’s an almost a whole team of midfielders. Rode’s arrival certainly indicates that there may be a departure from Bayern in the summer and on paper, Kroos is the most likely out of the squad to leave.
As well as the arrival of another midfielder placing doubt over Kroos’ future at Bayern, his brother Felix confirmed he has held discussions about a United move with Toni. With each passing week, the plot thickens.
When this rumour first appeared, it looked like an impossible move but the mere fact that both Bayern and Kroos are going with such a public strategy of pressurising the other, there is every chance negotiations could become untenable at some point which could lead to Kroos’ departure.
