Over on The Peoples Person Facebook page, we held a poll asking fans to choose their ideal 2014/15 Manchester United starting XI and after thousands of votes flooded in, the team has been decided.
Out of the 11 starters, seven players are currently at Manchester United meaning that there are four new arrivals.
Up front, Robin van Persie still leads the line and behind him he has the attack minded trio of Adnan Januzaj, Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata. On paper, that front four is easily one of the best in the Premier League.
Unsurprisingly, there are new faces to central midfield in Bayern Munich’s Toni Kroos and Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan. Both German and both highly sought after, they’d certainly bring something to our midfield that has been missing for a long time.
Behind them, Southampton’s Luke Shaw and Dortmund’s Hummels are the two new faces in defence. The 18-year-old is considered one of the best left back prospects there is right now so he’d be a great long term replacement for Patrice Evra while Hummels is one of the best defenders in Europe and with Vidic leaving, he’d be an ideal candidate to fill his shoes.
Overall, it’s a starting XI that certainly looks stronger than Manchester United’s current set-up but how realistic do you think the team is?
