Sporting Lisbon’s Carlos Mane has welcomed interest from Manchester United and other top clubs around Europe after enjoying some outstanding recent form.
The 19-year-old made an instant impact when given the opportunity with Sporting’s senior squad thanks to two winning goals in consecutive matches and has quickly been compared to Cristiano as the best natural talent to come from Sporting’s academy since Ronaldo.
Following his Macheda like impact at the start of his career, Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move for him but Mane wants to remain focused for Sporting and Portugal’s Under-21s.
“It’s always good to know that big clubs are interested in me, but now I’m focused on selection for the under-21s,” Mane told A Bola.
His progress has seen him receive a call-up to the Portugal Under-21s side but he unfortunately injured himself in their game this week, making him a doubt for Sporting’s game at the weekend.
Like Antoine Griezmann, Mane is another young, exciting winger who could bring something really fresh to Manchester United and although there are much bigger priorities in our squad than improving our wingers, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Moyes sell one of our current wingers and replace him with somebody exciting like Mane.
