PICTURE: Wayne Rooney sends message to Manchester United fans about Liverpool game

Wayne Rooney put in one of his best performances since returning from injury in January against West Brom today with a goal and assist and says Manchester United are ready for the Liverpool game next weekend.

After the dismal loss to Olympiacos, United needed to put in a decent performance against West Brom and the 3-0 victory was precisely that as after the first 20 minutes, United dictated and controlled the game.

Our next two home games are against Liverpool and Manchester City so United couldn’t afford anything but a win against West Brom and it sets us up nicely for Liverpool’s visit next weekend.

Speaking on his official Facebook page, Rooney said: “Great performance! 3 points, a goal and a clean sheet!

“We were all hurting after Olympiacos and we wanted to show we’re a good team. Liverpool up next, it’s up to us to show we mean business.”

If United didn’t turn up against Liverpool next weekend, things could have got ugly given how well Liverpool are playing this season (I’ll wash my mouth out) but at least some optimism has returned after the result today.
