Manchester United may rekindle their pursuit of Real Madrid’s Fabio Coentrao in the summer as reports from Spain suggest that both players will be shipped out by Carlo Ancelotti in the summer.
David Moyes’ failed pursuit of Coentrao in the summer and continued interest in January showed he was very interested in taking the Portuguese left-back to Old Trafford, and that opinion is unlikely to have changed.
As for Morata, ESPN believe Moyes is going to make a move for him in the summer. The thought of another striker coming in would have seemed like a ridiculous idea at the start of the year but in light of the fact that Robin van Persie and Javier Hernandez’s future at United are both far from secure, it could make perfect sense.
Neither player is the central midfielder that the squad desperately needs but with Patrice Evra coming to the twilight of his career, United need a left-back and Coentrao’s attacking style of play suits Moyes’ love of an overlapping full-back.
Right now, United do not need another striker on paper but that could all be set to change if one or two leave in the summer which is where 21-year-old Morata could step in.
