Robin van Persie has been ruled out for four to six weeks with a sprained knee that effectively ends his season for Manchester United.
Earlier today, Moyes remained coy on Van Persie’s injury situation and said that he was being sent for a second scan which he has clearly now had.

It’s a cruel blow for United and Van Persie. Just after we had the great result against Olympiacos, we have been drawn against Bayern Munich in the Champions League and Van Persie has now been ruled out with another injury.
The silver lining is that the door of opportunity has been opened for others. Either Danny Welbeck will get a chance to step into his shoes once again or we could see the return of Nani to the starting line-up with Juan Mata playing in behind Wayne Rooney. Shinji Kagawa could also make a rare appearance too.
