Guardiola: I’m very optimistic that Kroos will stay at Bayern Munich

Pep Guardiola is very optimistic that Toni Kroos will remain at Bayern Munich past this summer despite the uncertainty surrounding his contract situation in Germany.

The 24-year-old has insisted he is happy to delay contract talks with Bayern until after the World Cup and it has led to increased speculation that Kroos is considering his options, a move that Michael Ballack feels is the right thing to do.

However, Guardiola is still confident that Kroos’ future lies with Bayern Munich.

“I am very optimistic that he stays. I hope so. Everyone knows my opinion of what I think of him,” Guardiola said at his pre-match conference ahead of Bayern’s game with Mainz.

This isn’t the first time that Guardiola has backed Kroos to remain a Bayern Munich player as he did so after his performance against Arsenal.

“He played on a very, very high level. That was real Champions League level,” Guardiola said according to ESPN.

“We all want him to prolong [his stay], and he also wants that, I am very positive about it. The club, we all want that.”

However, Guardiola’s previous praise of Kroos highlighted why he was frustrated in Germany as Guardiola said he did very well when others were injured, whereas Kroos wants parity with other players.

Nothing will be sorted with Kroos’ future until the summer and whether or not he will choose to leave Bayern Munich remains to be seen.
