Manchester United confirm another four players have left the club on loan

by Tracey Germaine

Yesterday was the final day of the loan transfer window and it saw Manchester United send four players out until the end of the season.

Earlier in the day, Charlton secured the services of talented midfielder Davidé Petrucci.

Under-21 captain Tom Thorpe re-joined Birmingham City where he will once again be linked up with Tyler Blackett and Kiko Macheda. Thorpe had initially joined the Blues in January but was stretchered off in his first game after only 14 minutes after damaging his ankle ligaments. He was formally recalled at the start of March but he has since returned to fitness and Lee Clark swooped in. Thorpe will wear the No. 5 jersey.

Elsewhere, Liam Grimshaw has joined League Two Morecambe on loan. The 19-year-old can play right back, centre back or in a holding midfield role. Captain of the Under-18s last season, Grimshaw has found chances hard to come by. He played in three of the six UEFA Youth League games but has only made two appearances in the Under-21 Premier League.

Morecambe boss Jim Bentley is aware of the player as his side played against United in a friendly a few weeks ago and Grimshaw was part of the team, “He is highly regarded and has a fantastic attitude and desire and I am delighted that we will have him with us for the rest of the campaign.”

Also, Jack Barmby has extended his loan spell with Hartlepool United until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old winger has spent the last two months at Victoria Park during which he has scored three goals in eight League Two appearances.
