David Moyes has admitted that Manchester United have some defensive issues for Bayern Munich but remained tight lipped on who was a doubt for tomorrow.
Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling and Rio Ferdinand returned to training this morning but Rafael was absent and it is anybody’s guess as to what our back four will be against Bayern Munich.
“We have defensive issues,” Moyes said.
“I won’t be giving out my team but I’ll have to make one or two changes.”
Theoretically, we could be left with Alexander Buttner and Antonio Valencia as our two full-backs against the best team in European football.
For all his poor moments in front of the press this season and the damage has already been done but Moyes started to sound a little more like the manager of Manchester United and insisted he was confident that the team can get a result tomorrow.
He added: “We go into the game knowing, on our day, we’re as good a side as any. We need to show it more often.”
“We have to make sure both games are important but we’d love to go to Germany with a win under our belt.”
Also, Moyes once again remained confident about his future at Manchester United and when questioned about facing Pep Guardiola, he pointed towards it being the first of many against him.
He said: “Really looking forward to coming up against him. I’ve no doubt I’ll be doing it plenty of times in the future.”
