David Moyes has responded to questions from the press surrounding Manchester United’s interest in Toni Kroos by refusing to comment on the possibility of signing the midfielder.
The 24-year-old midfielder will be in action for Bayern Munich against Manchester United today in the Champions League quarter-final and we have been strongly linked with a move for him ever since negotiations for a new contract broke down in Germany.
However, when asked in his pre-match press conference about Kroos, Moyes was forthwith in shutting the door on any speculation as of now.
“Bayern Munich have a lot of good players, not just Toni Kroos,” Moyes said
“I would never talk about any player at another club and Toni Kroos is a Bayern Munich player.”
During the summer, Moyes adopted two different tactics when it came to transfers.
At the start of the window, he remained tight lipped and refused to discuss the possibility of any signings Manchester United wanted to make.
However by the end of the window, Moyes had confirmed bids for Cesc Fabregas and that we were interested in signing Ander Herrera, contrary to his statement that he would never talk about another player.
Moyes choosing to remain tight lipped on Kroos is unsurprising given that we play them today but if Bayern stay true to their word that Kroos is unavailable this summer, then United would have to wait until next year where we could sign him on a free or look elsewhere for an alternative.
