Spanish player’s agent in constant contact with Manchester United and confirms move unaffected by Champions League – report

Inigo Martinez’s agent has been in regular contact with Manchester United officials and has said the lack of Champions League football wouldn’t affect any potential move, according to Ben Fairthorne.

The 22-year-old’s name has been linked with a move to Manchester United since he dropped a hint on Twitter that he could be interested in a move to Old Trafford.

Martinez has featured against United this season already in the UEFA Champions League group stages and the reports suggest that Manchester United missing out on the tournament wouldn’t affect any potential move.

If you don’t know much about Martinez, here’s a scouting report from Bleacher Report taking an in-depth look at his strengths and weaknesses.

How much truth is there in Fairthorne’s reports?

Unfortunately, he has a previous track record of being unreliable so these reports seem like nothing more than hot air.

Bleacher Report published this article taking a look back at some of Fairthorne’s most sensationalist work and he was completely wide of the mark with Thiago in the summer.

Manchester United are more than likely going to be on the look-out for a centre back this year due to Nemanja Vidic, and probably Rio Ferdinand, leaving in the summer.

However, at this stage, Fairthorne claiming that United officials have regularly met Martinez are unsubstantiated.
