Moyes believes Fellaini is starting to justify his £27.5 million price tag

David Moyes has come out in support of Marouane Fellaini and said he believes he is starting to improve as a player at Manchester United.

The 26-year-old has featured prominently since his return from injury and has had some encouraging performances against the likes of West Brom.

However, his performance against Bayern Munich was so bad that Spanish newspaper AS didn’t even bother giving him a player rating, an indication of how poor he was on the night but Moyes has seen it differently.

“It’s not an easy move coming to Manchester United, as I can tell you,” Moyes said.

“For Marouane, I think it’s proved equally as difficult, but I have to say I think he has done a lot of good things and he has improved.

“I actually thought Marouane got better as the game went on (against Bayern).

“We needed him and I thought he played very well.

“He did well in the Villa game too. I think he is getting much closer to scoring.

“We bought Marouane Fellaini not to play every single game in the Premier League. We have bought him for several games. He did a great job at West Ham, against Aston Villa and against Bayern.”

Moyes is obviously going to stand in his players’ corner but surely he doesn’t believe what he is saying here? Sorry David, you must have been watching a different game to all of us.

Fellaini did improve in the second half but it was only because of how his first half performance was. He was also at fault for not tracking Bastian Schweinsteiger‘s run for Bayern Munich’s equaliser in the second half.

Against the lesser teams, Fellaini flourishes but against the bigger clubs Fellaini has been found out pretty much every single time this season.

Deep down, every United fan wants Fellaini to succeed. he is a United player after all, but Moyes’ optimism that he will come good is not shared among United fans.
