David Moyes confirms Wayne Rooney is fit to face Everton

Wayne Rooney will be available for Manchester United’s game against Everton this weekend after recovering quicker than expected from his bruised toe.

The 28-year-old had X-rays to check if any further damage was done to his toe but was given the all clear and now that the bruising has gone down, he is fit to play Everton at Goodison Park this weekend.

Despite being unable to strike a ball properly, Rooney played the full 90 minutes against Bayern Munich in the 3-1 defeat and was expected to be out for a little while longer in order to recuperate but that has not proved to be the case.

However, you know times have changed when you question whether Rooney’s return is actually a benefit to Manchester United.

In Rooney and Van Persie’s absence, Shinji Kagawa and Juan Mata have started to strut around the pitch to the same tune and Manchester United have played some of their best football this year.

As the old saying goes, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it and although in yesteryear Rooney’s fitness guaranteed inclusion, Moyes shouldn’t break up the Mata and Kagawa partnership.
