Santiago Arias’ agent has confirmed that Valencia are interested in signing him and fuelled speculation that Manchester United want him by revealing English clubs are also chasing his signature.
Following the up and down season that Rafael has had at Old Trafford, rumours have seen us linked to a few right-backs including Arias and the 22-year-old has enjoyed a solid season with PSV in Holland.
He has been a central figure for them in the Eredivisie this year having made 24 appearances, which is enough to have caught the attention of English and Spanish teams according to his agent.
“I confirm the interest of Valencia, which is already in the public domain, as well as other teams, including some from Spain and England,” he said.
Back in March, The Mirror reported that Manchester United were interested in Arias and we may well be one of many teams who are interested in him. If that is the case, it is something most United fans would agree is only a good thing.
Rafael has regressed this year. Through persistent injuries, he hasn’t been able to replicate his form from last season and an edge of wrecklessness has crept back into his game. What United need is a natural right-back alternative to Rafael, which is where Arias would step in.
Whether or not these Aris rumours prove to be true, it would be a surprise if David Moyes wasn’t at least looking around at bringing in some natural cover at right-back.
