Manchester United have held talks with Kroos, Shaw and Carvalho’s representatives

Manchester United’s longstanding interest in Toni Kroos, Luke Shaw and William has seen us hold conversations with their representatives, according to The Telegraph’s Mark Ogden.

Some of his Manchester United articles may have been a bit wide of the mark this season in their sentiment but when it comes to news, Ogden has been at the forefront. He was one of, if not the, first to announce Sir Alex Ferguson‘s retirement and was also one of the earliest with news of David Moyes’ sacking, so his sources are certainly well placed.

What does this news mean for our pursuits of the trio?

Reports earlier this week suggested Ferguson was in talks with Kroos’ agent and Ogden’s claims back that up and it would certainly be a step in the right direction from Manchester United to do so.

Bayern Munich may be confident they won’t be selling him this summer but if a substantial offer came in, Kroos could potentially force an exit.

As for William Carvalho, it would be bonkers if Manchester United hadn’t been in contact with his representatives a long time ago. After all, we have scouted him on more than 14 occasions this season and if earlier reports are to be believed, a deal for Carvalho has already been agreed and will be announced at the end of the season.

Southampton have denied holding conversations with any club about Shaw or Lallana which obviously is in contrast to Ogden’s reports. However, it would be more than a surprise if no club had enquired about two players who have been named in the PFA Team of the Year in a club that has overachieved this season.

Ogden also reports that United have held talks with Cavani’s representatives and that news is now common knowledge.

Now that the season is coming to a close, the transfer season wheels are beginning to turn and the fact that Manchester United have already started to talk with representatives of some of our biggest targets certainly suggests we’re in no mood to wait until transfer deadline day this year to finalise signings.

Also, Ogden reported United had contacted players’ representatives this week, presumably at least one of the aforementioned, to tell them moves from the club would ‘accelerate’ which suggests there could be some interesting developments in the coming days.
