Nemanja Vidic thanked everybody at Manchester United and the fans from the bottom of his heart in a heartfelt farewell speech after the full time whistle against Hull.
After eight years, 299 games and 15 honours, Vidic is about to close the book on his United career and move to Inter Milan, and no United fan can begrudge him for wanting a new challenge.
You could see in his speech how much United meant to him and the fans made sure Nemanja knew just how much he meant to them as well with a rendition of “Nemanja woahh” to rival the one that saw the Stretford End bouncing after his goal against Bayern Munich this year.
There’s no two ways about it – Vidic is going to be missed. He’s our captain. We’ve got to replace that now.
The likes of Jaap Stam, Rio Ferdinand, Gary Pallister and Steve Bruce were all great defenders in their own right but none commanded the air like Vidic did. He was the king.
Good luck Nemanja, and don’t forget United.
