Steve Bruce was full of praise for Adnan Januzaj after Manchester United’s 3-1 on Tuesday evening and hailed him as a future superstar if he can keep his feet grounded.
The 19-year-old was in scintillating form and in the end, Hull resorted to stamping on him to try and stop him because they couldn’t do it any other way.
Januzaj had seen a dip in form coincide with his lack of minutes towards the latter part of this season but on Tuesday, he played like a seasoned veteran and oozed class whenever he had the ball.
Bruce’s praise is very high but United fans certainly agree that if he can keep his feet grounded, the world really is Januzaj’s oyster.
“We see the young players they’ve got, Januzaj in particular. That kid’s going to be a superstar, isn’t he?” Bruce said.
“If he keeps his feet on the ground, which I’m sure they will do here, then he’s got everything, the boy.”
You have to keep pinching yourself to remember that Januzaj has only just turned 19. How good can he become?
He is a much better player now than when he made his debut earlier this season and who is to say that in four years time he won’t be a Ballon d’Or contender like Cristiano Ronaldo was (and won).
It’s a testament to his quality that a lack of game time and run of poor form didn’t hinder his performance against Hull in the slightest but he has now created an air of expectancy around himself based on how well he has played at points this season.
With a spot on Belgium’s plane to Brazil for the World Cup up for grabs, Januzaj will be keen to have another world class performance against Southampton on Sunday.
He may only be 19 but Januzaj has shown us all he has all the ability to make it to the very top of the game. Long may that continue.
