Manchester United are going to have the best goalkeeper in the world

Javier Hernandez and Juan Mata are confident that Manchester United are going to have the world’s best goalkeeper in David de Gea.

The Spaniard had another magnificent campaign and seemed to grow in confidence with each passing game that he played.

Chris Woods did a superb job with him this year behind the scenes and so long as De Gea continues in this same vein, his teammates are confident he’ll soon be the best goalkeeper in the world.

“I think he was a very consistent player,” Mata said at the end of the year awards.

“He saved a lot of points for us and fully deserved it this year. I know it’s only been a few months since I came but it’s not just me. All the players voted for him and he deserved it.

“He’s a top, top goalkeeper who I think will give us a lot of good games and some trophies in the coming years. He’s a very, very good goalkeeper who can make the difference and win games. That is what I think a goalkeeper needs to do. For me, he’s already one of the best goalkeepers in the world and, with his age and being at this club, I think he can be the best.”

Chicharito also hailed De Gea and praised his mental attitude in not letting his early problems at Manchester United get to his head.

“He’s been brilliant this season,” he said.

“David’s form is one of the highlights of this year. He’s improving. When he came here, he received a lot of criticism and had bad moments but now he’s proved himself to all the people that never trusted him.

“For me, he can be one of the best goalkeepers in the world, not only the Premier League. He is proving that game-by-game and we want him to keep that level for the next year, five years and 10 years. He’s going to be a very important player for this club.”

There’s no doubt about it – De Gea can become the best goalkeeper at the world. At 23, he has already established himself as the number one choice goalkeeper at one of the world’s biggest clubs. Very few keepers in history, only the likes of Iker Casillas and Gianluigi Buffon, can boast that so he is in esteemed company.

The more Dave plays, the better he gets and if his last two seasons are anything to go by, it won’t be long before De Gea does become the best goalkeeper in the world.
