Nani and William Carvalho have been named in Portugal’s World Cup squad alongside Cristiano Ronaldo but there is no place for Bebe.
After the season Nani has had, he is only in the squad on previous merits but Portugal’s boss Paulo Bento will be well aware that he is more than capable of winning a match if he is on form.
As for Carvalho’s inclusion, there is no surprises about that given his superb domestic form with Sporting Lisbon.
Bebe has had a great individual season out on loan at Pacos de Fereirra but given that the likes of Carlos Mane, Sporting’s talented winger linked with a move to United, have also been left out, Bebe can’t feel too hard done by.
It will be really interesting to see what both Nani and Carvalho do this summer for different reasons. For the former, it is a chance to either put himself in the shop window or back in contention for a spot in the United first team and for Carvalho, it is an opportunity to show everybody what he is capable of on the biggest stage.
