Patrice Evra has been named in France’s 23 man squad for the World Cup by Didier Deschamps.
Manchester City’s Gael Clichy didn’t make into the team which is a testament to how important Evra is seen by the French manager.
This will (probably) be the 32-year-old’s last international tournament and after the 2010 debacle in South Africa, Evra would have thought at one stage that an inclusion in this squad was never going to happen.
It remains to be seen whether Evra will remain a Manchester United player after this summer but with Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic already departing, United should think about keeping Evra if only for the experience.
What better player for our new left back to learn from than Evra?
