Antonio Valencia has been selected into the 30-man preliminary squad for Ecuador’s World Cup campaign.
The 28-year-old started off the campaign well enough but on the whole, he had a very poor season and has not been one of United’s stand-out performers.
Despite his poor form, Valencia does still remain captain. It shows what an asset the manager Reinaldo Rueda believes the winger is.
Ever since his injury, Valencia has never fully recovered but he has saved his best performances for when he is in an Ecuador shirt, hopefully he can do so and have a great World Cup.
