Manchester United are going to submit a second bid in the region of £30 million for Luke Shaw as soon as Louis van Gaal is formally announced, expected to be ‘no later than tomorrow’, according to The Guardian.
Jamie Jackson was the only reporter who said that United’s original bid of £27 million was rejected and believes Southampton would be willing to let Shaw leave for this improved figure. By contrast, Mark Ogden from The Telegraph insisted United were still waiting on a response earlier this week by Southampton.
In ‘Annie’ fashion, tomorrow is the date given as Van Gaal’s unveiling. We’ve heard plenty of dates before but as Ryan Giggs was in Holland today to meet Van Gaal, a crescendo looks around the corner.
If United are willing to offer £27 million for Shaw, then adding another £3 million is just some extra change. Last year, we missed out on signing Ander Herrera because we went €6 million under his release clause and not repeating those mistakes would be a good start.
