Barcelona’s Xavi has been linked with a move to Manchester United this week and has now confirmed offers are on the table from other clubs, fuelling speculation further.
The 34-year-old is still an important player for Barcelona and only Sergio Busquets and Cesc Fabregas have made more appearances in the league than him this season but with his contract expiring in 2016, rumours have surfaced once again about his future.
Are United one of the clubs who have sent an offer to Xavi?
Although Louis van Gaal would probably have a soft spot for him given that he helped him develop in the early stages and he’d no doubt bring quality to our midfield, buying a 34-year-old would not solve our midfield problems, not by a long shot. Van Gaal would be more interested in his teammate and compatriot Cesc Fabregas.
Any links to Xavi are more than likely an overstretch by the press. Xavi is a Catalonian version of Ryan Giggs. He doesn’t ever want to leave Barcelona. He has spent his entire career there and any link with Xavi is likely to turn out how it did back in 2007 when we were in contact with his agent over a potential move – with Xavi remaining at Barcelona.
