The 20-year-old has had a mixed bag this season on loan at Wigan Athletic. He started off with some fantastic and consistent form up until the new year but after the new year, thanks in no small part to a set of injuries, Powell has tailed off and missed their play-off games.
Powell also got in trouble after stupidly drink driving and has been banned from driving for 18 months.
Of course, Leicester are no strangers to buying United players as they have the likes of Ritchie De Laet, Danny Drinkwater and Matty James in their squad, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to hear the newly promoted Leicester are intersted in signing him.
However, United should tell them politely where to go. Powell should remain at United next season as he has every chance of earning himself a place in the first team squad. If after pre-season our manager doesn’t feel he is ready, then a loan spell to Leicester wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world but selling Powell off before he even has a proper chance at Old Trafford would be ridiculous.
