Manchester United’s new captain is ready for the job

Robin van Persie will become Manchester United’s new captain believes Dutch journalist Pascal Kamperman.

The 30-year-old was yesterday named Holland’s captain for the World Cup and his close relationship with Louis van Gaal has been well documented, both of which point towards him taking the armband at United.

“Yeah I think so because they do have a good relationship,” Kamperman told Sky Sports when questioned about Van Persie becoming United’s captain.

“At the beginning when van Gaal took over as the head coach of the Dutch national team they had to find their position a little bit. But after that it went really well and van Persie was very positive about him.

“When van Persie was over here (in Holland) last month because of his injury they talked a lot about the World Cup and the way they like to play in Brazil. So yes he does have a very good relationship with him.”

One thing is for sure – most United fans would rather have Van Persie than Rooney as our new captain to replace the departed Vidic but who is your ideal candidate to become captain?
