Juan Mata hasn’t even been a Manchester United player for six months but he has already left a profound impression on both fans and the team.
With an endearing smile and attitude, he has quickly become a fans’ favourite, the fact he is a magician on the pitch helps too, and according to Spanish newspaper AS, Barcelona are considering making a move for him this summer.
They report that Barcelona looked into signing him back in 2010 before he moved to Chelsea and also approached both his father and Chelsea about a potential transfer after Jose Mourinho arrived last summer. Now, Mata is considered a perfect player to come and help Luis Enrique revive Barcelona.
If they did make a move for Mata, you imagine they would be swatted away by United before they could even finish their sentence. Mata has been a revelation since he joined and the more games he played, the greater his influence was on the proceedings.
Going into next season, you could see Louis van Gaal building a team around Mata such is his importance to United. In a summer where there are going to be wholesale changes to the squad, the last thing United are going to do is sell one of our best players.
