The agent of Atletico Madrid midfielder Arda Turan has confirmed an English club has made an offer to sign him and speculation suggests Manchester United is the ‘most likely party’ to have submitted it.
The 27-year-old signed a new contract with Atletico last year, where his release clause was increased to €40m but following Atletico’s superb season, he is being courted by other clubs thanks in no small part to his agent Ahmet Bulut who is goading interest.
Previously, Bulut said Turan was interested in working for Arsene Wenger and despite Atletico’s groundbreaking season, Bulut suggested his future wasn’t set in stone yet.
“Arda is currently playing at a big club with big ambitions. He wants to be part of that success, but we must wait and see what happens”, Bulut told Voetbal Primeur.
“An offer from an English club has arrived”, he continued.
“As in every transfer, two parties, the player and the club, they must make a decision.”
With seven goals and five assists, Turan operated comfortably on both wings last season for Atletico and was an extremely important player for them.
Unlike his team-mate Koke, who has played down a potential exit, Turan’s agent seems all too happy to leave that possibility wide open.
Are United the English club who have made a bid for him? Time will tell but Turan would certainly improve our current options on the wing.
