Agent of ‘Dutch Xavi’ responds to Manchester United interest

Jordy Clasie’s agent has said there has been no contact with Manchester United about a potential move for the midfielder.

The 22-year-old has been linked with a move to Old Trafford since the appointment of Louis van Gaal, much like a host of other Dutch players.

Clasie’s fantastic pass to Robin van Persie for his volley against Ecuador has thrust him into the limelight this week but despite vested interest in the media, there is yet to be an approach from United.

“There has been no contact recently with the Viola (Fiorentina) or with the Red Devils (Manchester United),” his agent said.

“He is focused exclusively on the national team. The opportunity to train daily with a great coach like van Gaal is very important for him.

“Jordy’s future will probably be decided after the World Cup.”

Van Gaal has ruled out of a move for Toni Kroos, is reportedly reluctant to pursue Cesc Fabregas and is yet to make it clear what midfielders he is after in a summer that poses more questions than answers so far.

Could Clasie be the answer to United’s midfield problems? He is certainly a talented midfielder and would clearly love to work under Van Gaal, but there are big question marks as to whether he has the ability to transform United’s midfield this summer.
