Spanish daily newspaper Sport claims that Barcelona rejected three bids for Alexis Sanchez from Manchester United, Liverpool and PSG.
The 25-year-old enjoyed his most prolific campaign at Barcelona since joining with 19 goals and 11 assists including his goal of the season contender against Atletico Madrid in the crucial La Liga title decider on the last game of the season.
The injection of a world class winger into Manchester United’s squad would be fantastic and if Sport are correct, we’ve already made our first move to try and bring Sanchez to Old Trafford.
Sanchez has also been heavily linked with a move back to Serie A this summer but in all honesty, prying him away from the Nou Camp could prove even more difficult than Cesc Fabregas last summer.
Currently, no other publication has reported a failed bid but we’ll be keeping an eye out for any other mentions of a deal in the press this week.
Sanchez improved massively as a player last season at Barcelona and has got better every year so at a time where a few players could leave as part of Luis Enrique’s shake-up, selling a player who was only bettered by Lionel Messi at the club in terms of goalscoring contribution last season would be a strange decision.
That being said, money talks in football, so anything can happen if United made the right offer.
