Burak Yilmaz has moved to rubbish quotes attributed to him by Turkish newspaper Hurriyet that he said Arda Turan was set for a move to Manchester United.
Yilmaz broke into the Turkish national side with Turan back in 2006 and he reportedly said that United had made an offer for Turan.
“Manchester United made an offer for Arda, last I heard the talks went well and he could be playing in England next season,” Yilmaz reportedly told Hurriyet.
However, Yilmaz took to Twitter to denounce the reports as falsified and denies every saying anything about Turan joining United.
He said: “I have not said anything about anyone joining any clubs, whatever has been published isn’t true.”
All that excitement for nothing. Turan was outstanding for Atletico this season as was pretty much all of Atletico Madrid’s midfield with the likes of Gabi and Koke also putting in fantastic campaigns.
However, there has been no confirmation of talks between United and Turan and yesterday, he played down any move away by saying he was ‘part of a big family at Atletico’.
He said: “I’m not saying anything about the transfer market because I have three more years remaining on my contract with Atlético and this is my home, I feel like I’m part of a big family.”
His agent Ahmet Bulut also said there was no move on the cards for Turan. He said: “We don’t have any transfers in mind. Arda is very happy at Atletico; he is signed through 2017, although everything depends on Atletico. They decide Arda’s future.”
Manchester United have not signed a midfielder. As you were.
