Van Gaal chasing €100m world class quartet including Bayern Munich midfielder

Louis van Gaal‘s wishlist for Manchester United includes Kevin Strootman, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Mats Hummels and Yevhen Konoplyanka, according to De Telegraaf.

There have been plenty of lists banded around but it’s worth noting what De Telegraaf have to say with anything to do with Van Gaal as they were first to all of the news regarding his appointment.

It’s no surprise to see Strootman on this list given Van Gaal’s admiration for him but as the 24-year-old is going to be injured until around September, there are a few question marks around any potential move, least not for the fact he wouldn’t be able to pass a medical.

As for Schweinsteiger, he’s a player every United fan has wanted for years but nobody ever expected to see play in a United shirt, so it would be fantastic if Van Gaal signed him. Like Van Persie in 2012, the 29-year-old could prove to be a catalyst for success.

Mats Hummels would be another world class addition and his confident ball playing style of defending would allow United to play it out from the back like we did so well when Vidic and Ferdinand were in their pomp.

Completing the quartet is Ukrainian winger Konoplyanka who has been heavily linked. He’s not a world beater but would be a vast improvement on our current selection of wingers in the squad.

Time will tell if all or any of these players do join United but if De Telegraaf are reporting they are on our list, there is a high chance they are right.
