Belgium have had their 5-1 victory over Luxembourg wiped from the records by FIFA because Belgium manager Marc Wilmots fielded one too many substitutes.
It means Adnan Januzaj‘s debut has been cancelled out as well as Romelu Lukaku’s hat-trick.
The 19-year-old came on in the second half to become the 100th Manchester United academy graduate to make an international appearance but this setback means he is still not a full Belgium international just yet.
It’s an unfortunate situation born out of a mistake by Wilmots but it shouldn’t affect Januzaj too much as he will have another opportunity to make his debut soon enough.
With only eight days to go until the World Cup starts, could Januzaj make his full debut in Brazil? Potentially.
