Louis van Gaal may decide to keep Manchester United trio at the club

Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes and Phil Neville could still remain at Manchester United in some capacity under Louis van Gaal, according to The Guardian.

Jamie Jackson reports that Van Gaal is yet to decide if he wants any of them to stay on at the club and will address the situation when his World Cup campaign with Holland is finished.

Neville is the only coach who was involved directly with the first team underneath David Moyes as Butt was part of the Academy coaching staff and Scholes helped with the Under-19s when he was asked, but all three were part of the interim staff under Ryan Giggs.

As it stands, Van Gaal has not brought in anybody to replace any of the academy staff at United and traditionally he keeps on some of the old staff in order to bring some continuity, something which would be a good idea in this scenario.

Scholes and Butt should continue working with our academy teams as there would be no better people for our youngsters to learn from than players who worked their way through the systems themselves, but there may not be a place for Neville given that Giggs will likely take over coaching duties.
