Manchester United target Enzo Perez is close to securing a €25m deal to join Valencia, according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola.
After Perez, 28, revealed United were interested in signing him, his name has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford.
“I know about their interest [United], I have heard about these possibilities and my agent told me about them too,” he said last week.
“There is the possibility of playing for Valencia, who are a great club, but right now I want to be fully focused on the Argentina national team and on the World Cup.”
Perez said he was happy in Benfica, although it was the familiar non-committed denial that footballers often use during the transfer window.
He added: “I am very happy at Benfica, I signed the contract renewal before travelling to join the Argentina squad, which shows that I want to keep wearing this shirt.
“I am feeling very well at Benfica and I know the club will try to do the best for me, I’ll respect what they decide.”
However, by the sounds of it, Perez, who scored three goals in 27 appearances for Benfica last season, is closing in on a move to La Liga rather than the Premier League.
