Bastian Schweinsteiger expected at Manchester United, €25m bid ready

Manchester United want to make Bastian Schweinsteiger their first signing this summer, according to The Times.

James Ducker, not one to put his name to any rumour unless with sufficient evidence, reports that Schweinsteiger has been identified as United’s leading midfield target by Louis van Gaal and the story has also been picked up by both The Independent and Daily Mail.

Schweinsteiger, 29, is far from some of the promising young midfielders that United are also looking at but what he does have is bags of experience on his side and the last time United signed an injury prone 29-year-old, that turned out quite well.

German newspaper TZ has followed up the news story and word has clearly spread quickly about Schweinsteiger and United.

With Cesc Fabregas’ move to Chelsea complete and Van Gaal reportedly not interested in Toni Kroos, Van Gaal must have a plan up his sleeve with regards to midfield reinforcements and he could certainly do worse than signing Schweinsteiger, a player most fans have wanted to see in a United shirt for years.
