Daley Blind has refused to get caught up in the media speculation he could be moving to Manchester United and admitted it was a link that was easily made because of Robin van Persie and Louis van Gaal.
The 24-year-old has been linked with United off the back of his fantastic performance for Holland in their 5-1 demolition of Spain and the rumours have legs because of United’s stalled move for Southampton.
However, Blind has distanced himself from it all at the moment in order to focus on the World Cup.
“All the attention is a very big thing now,” he said.
“But I try not to think about it too much and will stay with my feet on the ground.
“The link with Man United is easily made, because Robin [van Persie] is playing there and van Gaal takes over next season.”
Blind joins a Dutch list including (but not limited to) Arjen Robben, Bruno Martins Indi, Jordy Clasie and Stefan de Vrij who have been linked with a move to United since Van Gaal has taken over and he is unlikely to be the last.
Van Gaal may well be interested in taking him to Old Trafford but it would heavily depend on his performances in Holland’s other games at the World Cup.
