Manchester United’s Spanish contingent have barely had a sniff of the action in Brazil, much to United fans’ dismay.
However, Juan Mata finally got his chance to show the world what the dethroned champions have been missing in the final game of their World Cup campaign, and scored after coming on as a substitute just before the hour mark with a superb shot through the legs of the on-rushing Australian goalkeeper.
Mata and Spain’s tournament is now over much sooner than anyone had anticipated but the good news is that along with United’s England stars, Mata will return to United in good time for pre-season which starts on 23 July.
