Ryan Giggs believes Old Trafford is the best place for new signing Luke Shaw to develop into a top player after the young left-back’s switch from Southampton to Manchester United was confirmed today.
Having come the whole way through United’s academy, Giggs is accustomed to what it takes for a young player to make it all the way to the top so there is no better player for Shaw to learn from than Giggs.
Underneath the stewardship of Louis van Gaal, Giggs will be learning the ropes as assistant manager next year and speaking about the signing of Shaw, he highlighted how far he has come as a player already and pointed towards a bright future.
“Luke is a very talented young left-back with great potential,” he said.
“He has developed immensely during his time at Southampton and has all the attributes to become a top player.
“I am delighted he has joined Manchester United as I believe this is the right club for him to continue his development as a young player and eventually fulfil that promise.”
Shaw becomes United’s second signing in as many days as the overhaul of the squad continues despite the absence of new manager Louis van Gaal, who has guided his Holland side to the last 16 of the World Cup.
With more signings seemingly in the pipeline, there are plenty of reasons for United fans to be excited about the new season.
