Phil Neville says that Manchester United’s recent transfer activity is ‘just the start‘ of what is likely to be a busy period of both comings and goings at Old Trafford before the start of the season.
Neville was part of David Moyes’ coaching staff during the Scot’s disastrous tenure at Old Trafford last season and although his position under Louis van Gaal has yet to be confirmed, he has hinted that more arrivals are imminent after the club’s recent dealings.
Understandably, United fans were ecstatic and there was a real frenzy on social media following the announcements:
Herrera and Shaw done and, if rumours are to be believed, that's just the start. The Glazer kids sure are going wild with their inheritance.

Do you remember that time we signed Herrera and Shaw within 24 hours of each other?

Love how Herrera and Shaw have announced their moves to #mufc via their Twitter bios – smooth, yet understated. The Aston Martin approach.

Both Herrera and Shaw arguably "overpriced" but I couldn't care a jot!! Players! The kind we need!! Good ones!!!!!!!

Ed Woodward has gone a long way to repairing his reputation after a shambolic debut transfer window and has now strengthened two positions that have needed it.
It appears United will also look to recruit in central defence, on the wing and possibly again in central midfield with the futures of Anderson, Tom Cleverley and Marouane Fellaini in question.
Names that have consistently been linked with United include a whole raft of the Dutch national squad such as Arjen Robben, Stefan de Vrij and Bruno Martins Indi as well as others outside of Louis van Gaal‘s squad like James Rodríguez, Arturo Vidal and Sami Khedira.
While Shaw and Herrera’s signings are the perfect start to the window for United, they are exactly that – a start. More arrivals are needed to strengthen other areas of the squad and Woodward’s excellent negotiations with the two arrivals so far this summer has given United fans some confidence that other deals can be sealed before the season starts on 16 August.
