Arturo Vidal is the name on the lips of every Manchester United fan at the moment thanks to reports gathering strength that he could move to Old Trafford this summer.
Today, Gazzetta Dello Sport have published a report in their print edition that Juventus are prepared to sell Vidal for just €40m (£31.7m) and are waiting for United to ‘launch an assault’ for the Chilean midfielder.
It isn’t just United who are heavily linked with Vidal as Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also being touted as potential destinations but one thing is becoming increasingly clear – Vidal is available to buy this summer. The only question is whether a club is willing to meet Juventus’ valuation of him, of which there have been various reports.
At the end of June, Tuttosport said Juventus were getting ready for a €45m bid from United and their reports were followed a few days later by claims from Metro that United were willing to pay £230,000 a week to secure Vidal.
However, a few days later a price of €60m was put on Vidal with a suggestion that United was his preferred destination and they were soon followed by other reports which were then backed up by ESPN who claimed United would have to pay over £45m for the midfielder. Other reports more recently discuss how the futures of Vidal and Sanchez are linked.
The story is developing rapidly and Gazzetta isn’t the first newspaper to place a price tag on his heaed and hypothetically if their reports were true, Ed Woodward should already be halfway to Turin with a big €40m cheque.
