The agent of Dutch World Cup star and Manchester United target Stefan de Vrij has categorically denied there is any deal in place for the centre-back to join Old Trafford this summer.
De Vrij, 22, was supposed to be on his way to Lazio according to various reports but nothing has materialised and they were swiftly followed up by murmurs linking him with a move to United.
With United clearly in the market for a centre-back this summer, Van Gaal’s Dutch players were also going to be linked to Old Trafford but at this moment in time, De Vrij is not one of them.
“We have no agreement with Manchester United, nor have we signed for them,” his agent said.
“I don’t know where this rumour came from. Stefan is concentrated only on the World Cup and he wants to continue doing well.”
Although a player of his ability would add a lot to United’s depleted defence, a player who is more established and experience might be what United need after the departure of Rio and Vidic.
