Louis van Gaal‘s decision to bring on Tim Krul for Holland’s penalty shoot-out against Costa Rica was risky, brave and, ultimately, inspired.
Krul’s double save helped Holland reach the semi-final where they will now face Argentina and for Van Gaal, that decision to bring on Krul was one that showed just how brave he is as a manager.
With all the world watching, Van Gaal brought Krul on knowing full well that would live or die by that decision. If Holland went through, Van Gaal would be labelled a genius. If Holland were eliminated, the blame would be placed on Van Gaal for making such an unprecedented decision.
That’s what makes the Krul decision so inspired because it takes some real bravery to make a call like that just prior to a penalty shoot-out, let alone in a World Cup quarter-final.
Unsurprisingly, United fans are now bursting at the seams with excitement about Van Gaal at United:
The ABUs will be glad they laughed at us last season, cause they might not get another chance with Van Gaal in charge. COME ON UNITED!!!

I'm surprised that Van Gaal can actually find trousers big enough what fit him. He clearly has massive balls.

Massive risks can provide the greatest rewards and that’s precisely what Van Gaal earned.
Massive risk, massive regard from Van Gaal. Reminds me of Fergie.

He's brilliant Van Gaal, fearless. Like Fergie with Sealey in 1990 he made the biggest of calls and deserved the victory for his balls

Van Gaal's ridiculous ego makes him perfect for United. Moyes was a rabbit in the headlights; LvG is the monster truck in the headlights.
