Robin van Persie has overcome a stomach bug problem to start Holland’s World Cup semi-final against Argentina tonight.
Van Persie was a doubt and didn’t train with his team-mates yesterday but the striker has fought through his illness issues and will once again be Holland’s focal point in attack.
Here is the starting XI Louis van Gaal has chosen for tonight’s game: De Vrij, Vlaar, Martins Indi; Kuyt, Wijnaldum, De Jong, Sneijder, Blind; Robben, Van Persie
After the final whistle following Holland’s penalty shoot-out victory over Costa Rica, Van Persie looked absolutely exhausted and fatigue was likely to have played a part in his illness problems.
Against Argentina, it’s unlikely Van Persie could go the full 120 minutes once again so Holland and Van Gaal will be hoping he can inspire the Dutch to win it in 90 minutes.
