Marcotti: Juventus are pushing Vidal towards Manchester United and are ready to sell

by Sam Peoples

The latest reports from ESPN’s Gabriele Marcotti suggest that Juventus are ready to sell Arturo Vidal to Manchester United.

According to Marcotti, Juventus’ original plan was to try and sell Paul Pogba for a fee in the region of €80m but they have now conceded that will not happen, hence why the prospect of letting Vidal move to Old Trafford is now a genuine possibility.

“We’ve had the clearest indication in a long time that Juventus are ready to part ways with Arturo Vidal,” Marcotti told ESPN.

“Their preference was to sell Paul Pogba as they believed they could get in the region of €80m for him but they don’t see that happening now, and they’re ready to consider an offer for Vidal.

“The understanding is that they are trying to push him towards Manchester United.”

Juventus’ focus of improving their performances in the UEFA Champions League next year is why Patrice Evra is on the verge of joining them and also why selling one of their main players is on the cards in order to raise cash for player purchases.

A few days ago, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported that preliminary talks had been held between United and Juventus over Vidal and, married with Marcotti’s claims, there is certainly a growing sense that United might just be able to sign Vidal this summer.

What a signing it would be. The best box-to-box midfielder in the world to compliment Ander Herrera as well as the excitement of Luke Shaw and Louis van Gaal? United fans would be sent into overdrive if it happened.
